The Heavy Pets are a funked-up rock and roll band from South Florida. Called “a living, breathing force of nature” by Relix Magazine, they are known for their songcraft and powerhouse live performances. The band has been a mainstay on the national touring circuit for over a decade, and released its fourth full-length studio album Strawberry Mansion in February 2018. The band’s energetic, extended sets have been described as “full blown musical salvation” that embodies the sound of their Florida home, weaving together elements of indie rock, jammy funk and grooves into a style that is uniquely their own.
‘Sacred Steel’ master Roosevelt Collier started out playing in the House of God Church in Perrine, Florida, alongside his uncles and cousins in The Lee Boys, learning to play pedal steel guitar with the spirit from an early age. The Lee Boys became one of most influential Sacred Steel bands, touring with major artists and becoming festival favorites throughout the US. Awed by Collier’s soul-shaking live performance and lightning-fast slide work, Snarky Puppy’s Michael League invited Collier to participate in his international project Bokanté in 2017. Collier soon branched out as a bandleader, leading a band of incredible musicians at world famous ‘get-downs’. Collier encapsulates all his experiences and influences, turning in a potent mix of blues, gospel, rock and, in Roosevelt’s words, “dirty funk, swampy grime”.
