This evening is out of doors and features “Black Lodge” by David T. Little and “Véronique Doisneau” by Jérôme Bel, Pierre Dupouey on New World Center’s Projection Wall at Soundscape Park.

Black Lodge (2022) – A feature film by David T. Little’s Black Lodge with a libretto by Anne Waldman, music of Timur & the Dime Museum

“Be careful what you need to know,” warns the protagonist of David T. Little’s surrealist cinematic opera. Blending opera and rock (and with a nod to David Lynch’s Twin Peaks), Black Lodge is a journey into magic, mystery, regret, and redemption.

Véronique Doisneau (2005) – A feature film by Jérôme Bel, Pierre Dupouey

Invited to make a piece for the Paris Opera Ballet, Jérôme Bel wanted to stage a sort of theatrical documentary on the work of one of the dancers: Véronique Doisneau. Alone on stage, close to retirement, she casts a retrospective and subjective glance on her career as a dancer at the heart of this institution. Through words and gestures, she conjures up an otherwise invisible world.
