MBUS Live Art Talk with Kim Moore

Kim Moore’s practice focuses on her domestic life, a life lived in, during, and around art.  She work in series, usually on several pieces at a time, in different stages of completion. In many ways, her practice resembles the chaos and entropy of life in a house with children, roommates, animals – the sameness is different on a daily basis.

The kitchen sink corresponds to the domestic life, a visual representation of both the inhabitants of the house and of their changing daily activities. Food is made and eaten and spilled, bread and cakes are baked, ingredients are measured, paintings are painted, food is chopped and drained and blended, household members use different utensils for eating, and cooking, and it all ends up in the sink. The “mess” results in rapidly changing compositions that she translate onto canvas.
