The City of Miami Beach is working alongside some of the world’s best cultural institutions to provide a night of free, unique and unforgettable experiences. Every third Thursday of the month, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Miami Beach will come alive with culture as various institutions and buildings open their doors to give you just a taste of what they have to offer. From backstage tours, exhibition openings, and free film screenings in the park, there will be something for everyone. All events are free unless otherwise noted.
The majority of the programming is accessible by foot and by bike, but we will also offer dedicated free trolleys that will drop you off and pick you up at our dedicated Culture Crawl stops – check out our monthly map to find your closest stop. Start where you would like and explore at your own leisure!

- Sundial Spectrum by Jen Stark (December 2024 - Spring 2025)
Los Angeles-based, Miami-born, visual artist Jen Stark presents Sundial Spectrum, a site-specific sculptural art installation and mural in her signature spectrum of colors and splash forms. The work will feature 13 sculptural panels fabricated from clear acrylic sheets, layered with laser-cut transparent vinyl inspired by geometry and natural forms. As sunlight filters through, viewers will find themselves surrounded by rainbow shadows along Española Way. The work’s hypnotic patterning will create an illusion of movement and interact with sunlight throughout the day, casting shadows along Espanola Way to produce an abstract sundial of prismatic colors.
Sundial Spectrum is the seventh installment of Elevate Española, a temporary public art program launched by the city in 2022, which aims to enhance the corridor and encourage pedestrian connectivity to Ocean Drive.

Opening on Veterans Day, Boot Camp in Paradise: World War II in Miami Beach brings to life Miami Beach's pivotal role in World War II with a free outdoor exhibition in Lummus Park. Running from November 11, 2024, through January 31, 2025, this curated collection features 30 state-of-the-art panels displaying photographs and printed materials from 1942 to 1945, when Miami Beach served as a training ground for over 600,000 U.S. troops preparing for combat. Presented by the Office of the Mayor and City Commission in collaboration with the Wolfsonian-FIU and supported by the Miami Beach Visitors and Convention Authority, this exhibit offers a unique glimpse into Miami Beach’s wartime role. The exhibit will be displayed in a space called Galería Ocean Drive, located between 11th and 12th streets in Lummus Park.

Explore the fiber arts in this introductory workshop into the art of embroidery. Learn the basics of embroidery including best practices, simple stitches and create your own small, embroidered piece.

6 PM - 8 PM | A Fascination with Forms: The Architecture of Jesus & Ana Tenreiro by Jesus & Ana Tenreiro in collaboration with Fundacion Espacio
The Department of Architecture, in collaboration with Fundación Espacio, presents the exhibition A Fascination of Forms: The Architecture of Jesús & Ana Tenreiro, dedicated to exploring the work and practice of renowned Venezuelan architects Jesús and Ana Tenreiro.This exhibition, the first solo show in the United States, revisits three decades of practice, from 1963 until 1994, showcasing nine built and unbuilt projects. The exhibition’s centerpiece is the fabrication of nine scale models produced by members of Fundación Espacio in Caracas and FIU’s architecture students. Additionally, the gallery will show digital drawings of the projects and photographs of the buildings. Through archival materials, this installation aims to present glimpses of the humanistic aspects of the Tenreiros’ life and practice, as their passion for architecture, philosophy, education, music, and poetry.
Rafael Urbina and the curatorial team present a brief timeline showcasing scanned hand drawings, sketches, and notes. The timeline shows the slow design process, its overlaps between commissions and competitions, the educated practice filled with references, and the spiritual life of Jesús and Ana Tenreiro.

Unravelling Uniformity is an exhibition featuring the diverse range of works by seven students from Florida International University’s MFA program. Each artist employs a unique medium to delve into the complex themes of memory, place, and identity. Through their varied artistic expressions, the exhibition challenges the notion of uniformity, inviting viewers to explore the intricate layers of personal and collective experiences. This showcase not only highlights the individual creativity of each student but also offers a rich tapestry of perspectives that provoke thought and inspire dialogue.

The Cosmic Craft Constellation alights at the North Beach Social, emulating the galaxies above and turning the Bandshell into a magical snow globe. Afrobeta promises a special holiday concert, and fiber artist Karelle Levy (Krelwear), inspired by sacred geometry, will create a celestial site-specific pom pom sculpture to light up Bandshell. Video art by Mariana Mendoza will bring the fully immersive experience to life. Opening set features Miami-based songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist Vania Junco to kick off the night. She draws inspiration from folk, jazz, and baroque music to create songs that are as emotionally dense as they are harmonically complex, with live performances that are primarily concerned with beauty for the sake of it. The North Beach Social is the free monthly musical meet up, presented by Rhythm Foundation. This edition is presented as part of Bandshell Laboratories, with support from the CreARTE grant from the Jorge M. Perez Family Foundation. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Self-guided Tour on Lincoln Road
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden has reimagined the landscape of Lincoln Road as a botanic garden, providing public, smartphone-accessible interpretation of the plants. Over 120 QR-coded signs are installed on trees, palms, and orchids (which number 1,250), connecting visitors to plant-specific information and media. The information can be accessed as a self-guided tour or as on-demand information about individual plants. It includes English and Spanish text, photos, and video. The tour focuses on the most notable elements of the historic Lincoln Road landscape, providing the name, origin, and significance of each plant. The most conspicuous and important plants are linked to descriptive videos created by Fairchild scientists. The interpretation allows Lincoln Road to function as a curated botanic garden. Enjoy.
