Miami Music Festival Opera Double Bill: Nico Muhly and Osvaldo Golijov

About: Enjoy a double bill evening where two 21st Century operas! The South Florida Premiere of Nico Muhly’s Dark Sisters will explore the inner lives of five sister wives married to a patriarch in the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints Church. After state officials take custody of their children, the wives struggle to find their place in the family as their husband instructs them to “keep sweet”.

Golijov’s Ainadamar is the story of the Spanish playwright Federico García Lorca and his muse, Margarita Xirgu, as they navigate the treacherous beginning of the Spanish Civil War.
