Amadou & Mariam joyfully combine their 40+ year love story with their role as beloved ambassadors for Malian music – a golden status that they playfully challenge with each new album. They have brought West African groves to collaborations with artists including Damon Albarn of Blur and Manu Chao, Santigold and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and a host of DJs and remixers, and onto festival stages including Coachella and Glastonbury. The opening act is Cortadito, Miami’s version of the Buena Vista Social Club, joined on stage by a variety of special guests. DJ Le Spam will also be spinning a variety of global jems. Georges Collinet of the Peabody Award-winning national program Afropop Worldwide heard locally on WDNA (88.9 FM) will be the guest MC.
