To honor Juneteenth, on June 19, 2022, from 7 to 8:30 PM The Miami Beach Classical Music Festival (MMF) with the support of the Ocean Drive Association, City of Miami Beach and the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau will present an evening of poetry, music, and dance called Lift Up Your Voice and Sing! Festival vocalists will present selections from the American SongBook selected by MMF director Michael Rossi.  Also appearing: the Peter London Global Dance Company, Poet Geoffrey Philp and musician Gregory LeDon (aka The Saxophone Guy). 

Juneteenth – which is celebrated annually on June 19 – marks our country’s second Independence Day. Though it has long been celebrated in the African American community, this monumental event remains unknown to many Americans.  In 2021, the day was recognized as a federal holiday when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law.

This event is free and open to the public – and will take place in Lummus Park between 14th Street and 14th Place as part of the Ocean Drive Association’s Promenade Concert Series.
