Poet of the Airplane
March 18, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
In his best-selling story of a boy’s journey across the universe, The Little Prince author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry drew from his own experience as a pilot to bring the magic of flight to life. Hear about the enduring significance of Saint-Exupéry’s lyrical literature—from his novel Night Flight (1931) to his memoir Wind, Sand, and Stars (1939)—with Jason Pearl, associate professor of English at FIU. Amidst the airplane-themed art of Aerial Vision and inspired by Saint-Exupéry’s powerful writing, Pearl will lead an informal gallery talk that explores what it feels like, and what it means, for humans to take to the air.
