Garden After Dark presents Broadway star Avery Sommers accompanied by the best jazz musicians in South Florida. For this special concert, Sommers will share her incredible stories and her love for Broadway classics and the great American songbook. The Swing All Stars, led by revered bassist and musical director Paul Shewchuk, features a rotating cast of the top musicians in the region performing a high-energy set of American classics. Avery Sommers, whose voice has been described as a “powerhouse” by The New York Times, appeared with Ken Page in Ain’t Misbehavin’ as Nell Carter. Other Broadway credits include Broadway, Showboat and Platinum. She played Jewel in the first national tour of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (starring Ann – Margret) and played Matron Mama Morton in the first national tour of the Broadway show Chicago, winning the Los Angeles Ovation Award.
